A few too many Frisbee games have been tearing up the National Mall, and the Parks Service is not pleased. The Mall is undergoing a $40 million restoration project, and officials have installed a new system to block people from playing Frisbee and softball games in certain areas in order to protect the new turf. This has set off a backlash from those who believe the lawn belongs to the people—and the anger extends to Congress. Members from both parties aisle have written to the National Parks Service. “While it is important to preserve the grounds of this national treasure, we must ensure that its spirit is not diminished,” Iowa GOP Rep. Tom Latham wrote in April.
