Female CEOs Earn 58 Percent of Male Counterparts

The numbers are damning. Despite the recent publication of the Shriver Report that showed women and men now occupy the work force in equal parts, a survey released Monday reveals that female executives still have a long way to go. The survey, which examined data from 2008, found that female execs earn only 58 percent of their male equivalents. Compensation packages for women were asymmetrical as well; female CEOs' salaries were cut three times as much as those for their male peers. Overall compensation for women, including base salary, bonuses, and benefits, fell 18.5 percent in 2008, compared with a mere 6.1 percent drop for men. Men also tend to outpace women in their annual bonuses, receiving bonuses 3.5 times greater than those of women.
