The Ferguson Police Department rescinded on its promise to release the name of the police officer involved in shooting an unarmed African-American teenager on Saturday, saying it had decided not to for safety reasons. Demonstrations in the Missouri town have grown increasingly tense, with police using tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse protestors on Monday night. President Obama released a statement today, saying, "I know the events of the past few days have prompted strong passions, I urge everyone in Ferguson, Missouri, and across the country, to remember this young man through reflection and understanding." The F.B.I. is investigating the shooting along with St. Louis County prosecutors.
