Three people were seriously injured after a fire broke out at the State Department in Washington, officials report. A spokesman said the flames erupted Saturday when crews were performing routine maintenance work on the building. Workers were able to successfully exit, but three were injured in the process, with one reportedly sustaining life-threatening injuries. Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, no government employees were in the building.
