Residential water bills are expected to double in Flint, Michigan, over the next five years, according to a new report from the Michigan Department of Treasury. The water bills, which are already high at an average $53.84 per month, are expected to hit an average $110.11 per month by fiscal year 2022. The spike in expected costs is the result of a massive water system upgrade that will replace Flint’s lead-tainted water with a new, clean source.
