Former Israeli PM Olmert Found Guilty

Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert was found guilty Monday of fraud under aggravating circumstances and breach of trust during a retrial for corruption charges. Olmert was acquitted in 2012 on charges that he accepted bribes from U.S. businessman Morris Talansky before he became prime minister. A panel of judges at the Jerusalem District Court overturned the verdict based on new evidence provided in a plea bargain with Olmert’s former office manager, Shula Zaken. The ex-prime minister’s lawyers said they would likely appeal.
