Bruce Beresford-Redman, a former producer of the show Survivor, is asserting his innocence in the murder of his wife after Mexican authorities issued a warrant for his arrest. Beresford-Redman's wife Monica had been found strangled to death in a sewer in Cancun on April 8. Beresford-Redman's lawyers have released a statement that reads, "I am devastated at her loss; and I am incensed at the suggestion that I could have had anything to do with her death. I am innocent. ... I implore the Mexican authorities not to take [their childrens'] remaining parent by a miscarriage of justice and to do what is right, not just what is expedient." Mexican authorities had ordered Beresford-Redman to stay in Mexico during the course of the investigation, but he evaded them and slipped away to Southern California. His attorney, Richard Hirsch, insists that Beresford-Redman was not legally obligated to stay in Mexico, despite the fact that he had been forced to hand over his passport to Mexican authorities. ABC News previously reported that Beresford-Redman had curiously taken out two life-insurance policies on his wife a week before she was found dead.
