Looks like Sarah Palin got out right in time. January ratings for cable news show Fox News got its worst prime time ratings among 25-54 year olds since 2001, and its lowest total daytime ratings in five years. Another suprise was Rachel Maddow, whose MSNBC show was bumped from 14th place last January to 10th this one. But the culprit for the past few months is fairly clear: Fox News viewers tend to tune out of Democratic event coverage, and liberal viewers eagerly turned on MSNBC for the inauguration, Democratic convention and post-election coverage.
