Pierre Torres, a French freelance journalist, was hit by a bullet in the shoulder during fighting between Syrian troops and rebels in Aleppo. The 28-year-old reporter was evacuated to Turkey for medical attention, according to a Spanish journalist who was there. Torres had spent two weeks covering the conflict in Syria for a variety of media outlets. President Bashar al-Assad’s troops pounded Aleppo on Sunday while declaring victory in Damascus—although some journalists reported that rebels were in control in Aleppo.
