A French couple died while hiking in New Mexico’s White Sands National Monument on Tuesday, while their 9-year-old son was rescued and treated for sun exposure. The pair reportedly set off on a strenuous trail without water supplies, as daytime temperatures hit as high as 101 degrees. The boy was picked up by first responders and is being returned to his grandmother’s custody.
