From Kate Bosworth's disco-ball dress to Christina Hendricks in head-to-toe leather, it was a week of fashion extremes. See our highs and lows.

Kate Hudson stole the show at amfAR's Inspiration Gala at Milk Studios on Thursday in a bright red Prabal Gurung satin dress with a plunging neckline.

Okay, maybe the ‘90s really are having a moment. With that disco-ball veneer, Kate Bosworth’s strapless dress sort of resembled a tube top we wore to see the Backstreet Boys c. 1999. But this was straight off Stella McCartney’s Spring 2013 runway. And it was pretty incredible. On the red carpet for a SK-II Skincare launch event in Sydney (she’s the new face of the brand), Bos paired the liquid-gold dress with Giuseppe Zanotti sandals and a gold clutch.

The British actress looked flawless in this white Alessandra Rich dress and cape—even if appeared to be a direct copy of the Tom Ford dress Gwyneth Paltrow made famous at the Oscars last year.

At the premiere of her highly-anticipated new film, The Impossible, Watts stunned in this white lace (and vaguely 1980s prom) Marchesa dress with a Louis Vuitton clutch, Christian Louboutin Summerissima sandals, and Chopard earrings.

Mrs. Ben Affleck appears to be in a constant state of cozy-oatmeal-sweater and boyfriend jeans, so when she cleans up, it's pretty exciting. At the premiere of Argo in D.C. this week, she wore a teal Roberto Cavalli dress with black-lace detailing around the neck. Well played.

The stoic princess of Monaco wasn’t exactly all smiles on Wednesday as she arrived on the arm of Bundle of Laughs. But she did look elegant in a ruffled black—albeit slightly sheer—Gucci dress at the Ballo Del Giglio at Palazzo Pitti in Florence on Wednesday.

Maybe it’s the fact that Helena Bonham Carter always seems to toe the line between elegance and train wreck that makes it such a joyous occasion when she wears something great. At the London premiere of Frankenweenie 3D on Wednesday, she put this black-and-white Marc Jacobs Resort 2011 dress—never mind the fact that we had seen her in it once before.

Meet Lara Bingle. According to her Wikipedia page, she’s an Australian model and socialite, most famous for her “Tourism Australia” advertising campaign. And while she looks like a villain from a Bond movie, her dress was pretty neat: a Louis Vuitton pre-fall 2012 emerald green embroidered number with a thin black belt. More questionable, however, were the open-toe booties and the furry collar. (Besides, isn’t it currently summer down under?)

It’s black, it’s white; it’s okay, it’s boring? January Jones looked a far cry from Fat Betty in this two-toned Chanel column dress at the Chanel Fine Jewelry 80th anniversary party in New York on the 9th.

This would barely be acceptable in the middle of July over a bikini on the beach. But mid-October? To a museum gala? With not even a bra underneath? Who is this girl, anyway?

This Australian actress, with drawstring silk pants over a band T-shirt, looked like she needed a hug.

This is the second week that one of Britney’s X Factor outfits has wound up on our worst-dressed list. But they really do keep getting worse and worse: what began as a neon mesh number is now a black tight minidress with spike heels and rainbow frosted tips. Girl needs help.

This dress left little up to the imagination with sheer panels cut up to there and furry sleeves, which extended into lines across the chest. It was reminiscent, even, of a recent Eva Longoria dress—and you know that’s not a good thing.
