After a sea of mermaid silhouettes and pin-curls that blanketed the red carpet at the Golden Globes, we let out a little scream/sigh of relief when Kerry Washington showed up. Sure, she’s graced this very list more than anyone else, but her Miu Miu dress (encrusted with Swarovski crystals, we might add) offered something distinctly refreshing.

When Marion Cotillard arrived at the Golden Globes, we gasped for a different reason: her Dior dress was so similar to Jennifer Lawrence’s. Both red, both strapless, both belted—Dior had, apparently, not informed their stylists that they were bound to be lookalikes. But ultimately, we preferred Cotillard’s ensemble. Looser, calmer, less in your face.

Emily Blunt was practically a glowing light when she descended at the Golden Globes on Sunday night—and thank God she was. Her Michael Kors dress was pitch-perfect for the occasion: simple but yet—because of the embroidery—pretty fancy.  The bubble-gum pink Lorraine Schwartz earrings were just an added bonus.

Moore is BFFs with Tom Ford, so we should have guessed she would wear his creation to the Globes. But we could never have guessed it would look this good! It was controversial, sure, but it changed things up and was sort of mod, both things we appreciate.

Amber Valletta’s black number at W Magazine and Dom Perignon’s Pre-Golden Globes Party (held in a private room at the Chateau Marmont) was a welcome departure from the weekend’s ballgowns.

The Smash star meant business at the Golden Globes: she arrived in a black Theyskens’ Theory dress by Olivier Theyskens, and looked incredible in it. The slit was up to there, and the neck was down to there, but when the alternative is this, you’re sort of thankful for it.

It’s hard to wear black to an award show: you always end up looking kind of unremarkable and being passed over on everyone’s best-dressed list. Yet Kate Hudson stood out in this long-sleeved McQueen number, which was embellished with gold detail at the neck and waist.

It certainly was in step with the 1940s trend that dominated the Globes carpet, but Watts’s merlot-colored Zac Posen dress was elegant and looked superb on the Best Actress nominee. And Schreiber didn’t look so bad himself.

Remember Sloan from Entourage? Well, this is what she wore to a Golden Globes after party. (For the record: it was under 40 degrees in L.A. on Sunday night.)

Poor Amanda Peet. So sad, so nice, and so strangely dressed.

There’s a right way for a woman to wear an unstructured white suit (See: Lauren Hutton at the CFDA Awards, but this, Lana, ain’t it.

I honestly don’t know who this person is. But I’ll definitely remember her for the rest of time, thanks to the dress she chose for Instyle’s Golden Globes after party. (Never mind! I just Googled her and discovered that she plays Brienne of Tarth on Game of Thrones—the lesbian warrior!—which makes this outfit that much more amazing. I will now watch her king-slay on Season 3 and think of this dress.)
