Gabby Giffords to Attend NY Gun Show

Former U.S. Rep. and shooting victim Gabrielle Giffords will attend a gun show in New York to promote a state law enacted earlier this year which creates a gun ownership registry, taxes bullets and limits magazines to seven bullets, requires reports on threats from mental health professionals and expands the military-grade weapons ban. Giffords and her husband, Mark Kelly, are campaigning for more stringent background checks on gun sales and suggest the New York law, passed a month after the Newtown school shooting, should be a national model. “The state’s model helps keep guns out of the hands of people who shouldn’t have them—like criminals and the dangerously mentally illwithout infringing on our second Amendment rights,” said Kelly.
