In a surprise appearance, Rep. Gabrielle Giffords voted in favor of raising the debt ceiling on Monday. Giffords received a standing ovation when she appeared on the House floor. The congresswoman mouthed “thank you” and waved during the applause. She walked on her own, but had some help when going down stairs. Just before Giffords appeared, her office tweeted, “Gabrielle has returned to Washington to support a bipartisan bill to prevent economic crisis. Turn on C-SPAN now.”
