Muammar Gaddafi’s spokesman was reportedly captured Thursday outside of the former dictator’s hometown of Sirte, while the ruling National Transitional Council retook a key airport in that city. The new regime’s field commanders said Mussa Ibrahim had been arrested by fighters from Misrata, and unconfirmed reports said Ibrahim had been dressed as a woman. The NTC fighters took full control of the Sirte Airport Thursday after losing it two weeks ago, as civilians have been fleeing the city in droves due to heavy shelling from the pro-Gaddafi forces and an aerial assault from NATO. Meanwhile, four Republican senators visited Tripoli Thursday, the most prominent U.S. delegation to meet with the new regime since the fall of Gaddafi.
