It’s hard to imagine that this would actually be a first. An NFL player who is gay is considering coming out in the next few months, CBS Sports reports. Though the player remains anonymous—and in the closet—he plans on continuing his career after the announcement. The move would be historic: There has never been an openly gay and active player in a major U.S. team sport. The player is not afraid of the reaction of teammates, but is instead worried about homophobic fans.
