Georgia Executes Its Ninth Inmate This Year

EYE FOR AN EYE

More than any other state.

Georgia on Tuesday executed a man convicted of killing his father-in-law during a 1990 custody battle. Fifty-year-old William Sallie was pronounced dead at 10:05 p.m. after a lethal injection. In his final statement, he told witnesses he was “very, very sorry” for his crimes. “I’m just very sorry for everything. I do ask for forgiveness,” he said, adding that he’d prayed many times over the murder.
