German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier has warned that a Donald Trump presidency “would be dangerous not only for the United States, but for Europe and the rest of the world as well.” In an interview with Reuters published Wednesday, Steinmeier said he was concerned about Trump’s “politics of fear and isolation” and contradictory promises to both “make America strong again” and reduce the country’s engagement overseas. Steinmeier has repeatedly criticized Trump for his controversial comments and spoken out in favor of Hillary Clinton. As for Trump’s popularity, Steinmeier said it was likely the result of people looking for easy answers.
