Gervais to Host Globes Again

Despite panned 2010 performance.

Comedic actor Ricky Gervais is likely hoping the second time’s a charm after the Hollywood Foreign Press announced on Wednesday that he will return in 2011 to host the Golden Globes. The mastermind behind The Office was largely panned for falling flat while hosting the Golden Globes earlier this year, after which he reportedly said, “I’m not going to do this again.” Not a man of his word apparently, Gervais is now slated to host the Globes for the second time on January 16, 2011. “I can’t believe they invited me back after awful things I said,” the funnyman said in a statement. “Let’s see how far I can go this time.” Despite criticism, Gervais’ telecast brought in a full 2 million more viewers than that of 2009.
