Senator Kirsten Gillibrand said it was a “miracle” when Representative Gabrielle Giffords opened her eyes Wednesday, and apparently Giffords’ doctors agree. Doctors hailed the moment as a "major Milestone, and say Giffords is “becoming more and more alert at this time." They say the fact that she opened her left eye on Wednesday while family and friends gathered around her shows that she’s aware of her surroundings. They’ve also sat her up on the side of the bed and dangled her feet over the edge. Just 10 percent of people survive gunshot wounds to the head.
