Rep. Gabrielle Giffords has recuperated enough to watch an hour of television, the most dramatic sign yet in her extraordinary recovery after being shot in Tucson on January 8. According to Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, a friend of Giffords, "Last night or the night before she watched television—it was CNN in fact—and the fact that she was able to do that for about an hour, in terms of attention span, they were pretty excited about that," Wasserman said. Giffords has been in the intensive-care unit at a Houston hospital since Friday, while a drain extracts excess fluid from her brain.
