Herman who? In a poll by the Des Moines Register that was conducted before Cain suspended his campaign, Newt Gingrich came out first, with Ron Paul in second place and Mitt Romney sliding to third. Gingrich won 25 percent support from likely caucusgoers, a huge surge after winning only 7 percent in a similar poll in October. But Romney is not going down without a fight, picking up a key endorsement by the Iowa newspaper the Sioux City Journal. In an interview with Fox News on Saturday, Romney stressed that he has been “in the mix” throughout the race while other Republican candidates had come and gone as frontrunners.
