Gingrich Yanks Anti-Romney Ad

That probably wasn’t such a good idea. Former House speaker Newt Gingrich wound up pulling a Spanish-language radio ad that called Mitt Romney “anti-immigrant.” Gingrich withdrew the ad after Florida Sen. Marco Rubio expressed concern, saying neither Romney nor Gingrich was “anti-immigrant.” A spokesman for Gingrich said the campaign cares about Rubio’s opinions. Rubio, who is Cuban-American, is expected to be a top choice for the GOP’s VP slot no matter who the nominee is. Romney and Gingrich have been clashing over immigration reform in recent weeks, each trying to portray himself as tough on illegal immigration but flexible enough to court the sizable Hispanic Republican vote.
