GM Halts Sales of Chevy Cruze

It looks like General Motors is beating its next recall to the punch. The car manufacturer has told dealers in the U.S. and Canada to stop selling 2013 and 2014 Chevrolet Cruzes over potential air-bag concerns. GM spokesman Jim Caine said in a statement Wednesday, “Certain vehicles may be equipped with a suspect driver’s air-bag inflator module that may have been assembled with an incorrect part.” GM notified dealers Tuesday and says it has identified 33,000 cars that may have air bags built from a bad batch of parts. The Cruze is GM’s top-selling car, so it is a tough blow to GM’s already abysmal year. It joins the Chevrolet Cobalt, Pontiac 6, Saturn Ion, and Saturn Sky in the list of GM vehicles that have suffered from safety issues.
