Goldman Sachs executives say they expect U.S. prosecutors to serve them with subpoenas soon for information about the investment company's mortgage business. The subpoenas would follow a report by a Senate subcommittee on the financial crisis that accused Goldman of betting against the housing market, misleading investors, and mismanaging conflicts of interest. Sen. Carl Levin (D-MI), the subcommittee's leader, said Goldman should be criminally investigated and referred his group's findings to the Justice Department. But it's unclear whether the subpoenas will result in criminal charges. Goldman said it disagreed with the subcommittee's findings. Executives say they expect subpoenas within days.
