Following charges by the SEC that Goldman Sachs committed fraud against its investors, CEO Lloyd Blankfein has begun a campaign to fight back. He phoned clients Wednesday, telling one of them that the investigation would "hurt America," according to the Financial Times. One person who spoke to Blankfein said, “He feels that the government is out to kill them, that they are under attack and the whole thing is totally political.” The investment bank isn't merely relying on Blankfein's charm offensive: They've hired former White House counsel Greg Craig to help in the fight. On Tuesday, Blankfein will make his case before a Senate panel.
