The Republican Party’s elite donors reportedly fear President Trump’s re-election campaign is failing to come up with a plan to regain Rust Belt states that swung to Democrats in the midterms—and are concerned the president’s lack of discipline will derail any strategy from getting off the ground. Politico reports that a private presentation given by campaign manager Brad Parscale to top donors last month left many nervous about plans for Trump’s re-election. The main three fears are reportedly that no plan was identified for the Rust Belt states, that the president’s fundraising apparatus isn’t good enough, and that Trump himself will overrule any strategy the campaign does develop. “There’s a lot of anxiety,” said one unnamed donor and friend of Trump. “There isn’t a lot of confidence ... among the donor group, the broader Republican group important to the re-election.” One outside adviser close to the campaign was quoted as saying “Donors are asking for the plan and they have no plan... There’s not a strategy.”
