GOP Seeks to Repackage Romney

Imagine a warmer, fuzzier Mittens. That’s the task that’s been given to an ad hoc crew of Romney advisers, designers, and consultants who are working on a program for the Republican National Convention that they hope will reintroduce the GOP candidate to America. On Sunday the new tactic was apparent as the campaign allowed reporters to follow Romney into Mormon services. “This is an opportunity for us to tell the Mitt Romney story in a way that people might not have seen,” said Romney adviser Russ Schriefer. “This is our chance to lay out the arguments for why Barack Obama has failed and why Mitt Romney would do better,” and all in front of 39 million people, he said.
