GOP Seizes Jobs Report

The news of a disappointing jobs report released Friday quickly became fuel for Republicans' fire, as they pointed to the report as evidence of President Obama's "job-killing" policies. GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney said the report was "devastating news for American workers and American families." Meanwhile, White House Council of Economic Advisers chairman Alan Krueger insisted, "Problems in the job market were long in the making and will not be solved overnight." He wrote in a statement: "The economy lost jobs for 25 straight months beginning in February 2008 and over 8 million jobs were lost as a result of the Great Recession. We are still fighting back from the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression."
