Gospel Singer Andrae Crouch Dies at 72

Grammy-winning gospel singer Andrae Crouch died Thursday, according to his representative. The 72-year-old died from complications at Northridge Hospital Medical Center in Los Angeles after suffering a heart attack Saturday, Brian Mayes said. Crouch, who was also a pastor, was known for his work as a singer and composer and also worked as a producer for artists including Michael Jackson, Elton John, Diana Ross, and Madonna. He was a former member of the group the Disciples, which won several Grammy awards in 1978. He was inducted into the Gospel Music Association’s Hall of Fame in Nashville in 1998. He is survived by his twin sister, Sandra Crouch.
