Gravity is defying the odds. The 3D space film, featuring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney, continued to soar at the box office this weekend, bringing in a massive $12.7 million on Friday setting it up for what could turn out to be a $45 million weekend. If it does reach that feat, the film will break the record for the lowest drop in numbers for a film in its second weekend (just an 18 percent drop). Following bravely behind Gravity is Tom Hank’s newest adventure Captain Phillips—expected to bring in $25 million in its first weekend.
