Groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil Forecasts Early Spring in 2011

Did Punxsutawney Phil get the memo about climate change? The famous Pennsylvania groundhog continued the Groundhog Day tradition Wednesday morning—this time he did not see his shadow, which means he’s predicting an early spring. Phil has now seen his shadow 98 times and hasn’t 16 times since 1887 (no records exist for the other years)—but the result is actually pre-decided by a panel of 14 people.
