Gunmen Storm EU Military Mission in Mali

The European Union’s military mission in Mali came under fire Monday after gunmen stormed its base in the capital city Bamako. There were no reported casualties among the mission’s personnel but at least one of the attackers was killed, Mali's internal security minister said. Two suspects were also taken into custody. No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack, which began around 6:30 p.m. local time. A witness told Reuters the attack was on the Nord-Sud Hotel, the headquarters for the EU mission that houses nearly 600 personnel. The assault comes about four months after militants attacked the Radisson Blu hotel in Mali, killing 20 people.
