In an effort to convince New Yorkers that he's not a pedicure-receiving, subway-shunning elitist, Harold Ford told The New York Daily News that New York's greatest pleasures are its simplest. "I love New York, I love the smell of New York. ... I love the subway," he said. As for the regular pedicures reported in his disastrous interview with The New York Times, Ford's aides insist they are only scrubs to minimize athlete's foot. "This race isn't about feet, it's about issues," the aides said. In addition to Manhattan's signature scent, Ford says his favorite moments in NYC are strolls in Central Park, jogs along the Hudson River, and meandering down Fifth Ave. on his way to work.
