Former Tennessee Rep. Harold Ford has taken a 30-day leave of absence from his job at Bank of America Merrill Lynch to travel around New York and decide whether he wants to run for the Senate there. A spokesman said Ford will be "listening to New Yorkers and discussing his goals as an independent Democrat" while he considers challenging Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand in the Democratic primary. Next week, Ford will travel to Long Island.
