Outspoken conservative and View co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck apologized to ESPN sportscaster Erin Andrews on Wednesday for her "reckless words"—referring to her comments Tuesday implying that Andrews shouldn't have been wearing a skimpy outfit on Dancing with the Stars after having been stalked earlier this year. (The man who filmed Andrews through a hotel peephole and posted the footage online was sentenced to federal prison in March. Another fan began sending death threats the next month.) Hasselbeck's initial comments were: "In light of what happened and as illegal and as inexcusable as it was for that horrific guy to go in and try to peep on her in her hotel room ... I mean, in some way if I'm him, I'm like, 'Man! I just could've waited 12 weeks and seen this—a little bit less—without the prison time!'" Andrews said the comments were insensitive to victims of sexual predators and mocked the crime. Hasselbeck said Wednesday that she had been inspired by her daughter to apologize for the words that could "pierce someone's heart like a sword... I'm really sorry..."
