After being linked to tween idols Joe Jonas and Twilight’s Taylor Lautner, country singer Taylor Swift indicated she may be increasing the age bracket of her boyfriends when she was linked to 33-year-old John Mayer. But the rumor seemed to have more clout after Swift was seen gallivanting from coffee shop to coffee shop with Jake Gyllenhaal in October. First, the then 20-year-old Grammy winner and 29-year-old movie star were spotted holding hands in Park Slope. Then, there was their much-publicized maple latte outing in November, followed by another coffee run in Swift’s native Nashville. Gyllenhaal and his rumored girlfriend have yet to comment on their caffeine-fueled love affair. But we assume we’re bound to hear about it in another one of Swift’s teen tirades-turned-hit singles in the future.

Black Swan director Darren Aronofsky hired model, choreographer, and ballet star Benjamin Millepied to train Natalie Portman for her role as a perfectionist ballerina, which earned her a Golden Globe nomination. Soon enough, reports started surfacing that the two had started dating. Anonymous sources from the set told the New York Post that Millepied became obsessed with Portman, dumping his former girlfriend and ignoring all the other dancers to focus on the star. And though they have not gone public with their romance, his admiration for the potential Oscar star is undeniable. “I was blown away—especially by Natalie, who was amazing to watch,” Millepied told Details.

Did Hollywood’s biggest playboy finally find his match this year? George Clooney and Italian model/actress Elisabetta Canalis rang in the New Year together in Cabo San Lucas and have since been spotted on several continents together-- from awards ceremonies in New York to fashion shows in Milan. And as these photos prove, they’re surprisingly not shy about their relationship. The 31-year-old beauty told Vanity Fair this summer that Clooney was the reason “my life has regained color. I feel good, I feel light. Like when I was 18 years old.” Canalis continued to praise the rejuvenating qualities of her 49-year-old boyfriend on the red carpet, telling Entertainment Tonight, “He’s better than plastic surgery!”

Saturday Night Live star Jason Sudeikis and Mad Men actress January Jones bridged the gap between comedy and drama this summer with their relationship—but not without some bumps along the road. Two months after the pair was spotted having a romantic lunch in Hollywood, Sudeikis appeared on Lopez Tonight and told host George Lopez (and subsequently, America) that he had seen Jones naked. The actress, however, called him out soon after, telling People magazine, “He’s never seen me naked, nor will he after those comments.” They’re now both mum on their bedroom activities and Sudeikis has been on his best behavior—defending Jones’ hideous Emmy dress and telling Vanity Fair, “She's great. I'm very happy with everything."

When Glee star Jane Lynch met clinical psychologist Lara Embry, their attraction was immediate. Though they had to fly to different cities the next day, Lynch and Embry struck up a long-distance relationship that led to a wedding on May 30 of this year in Massachusetts. Despite their incredibly different professional lives, Embry said the two found they were very similar. “We are both fascinated by emotional experience and are essentially hopeful people,” she told The New York Times. Emmy winner Lynch was not only grateful to call Embry her wife, but she was also excited to become a mom to Embry’s 8-year-old daughter, Haden. “I’m almost 50, and I thought that possibility was behind me, so this is a real delight,” explained the overjoyed Lynch. “I wake up and pinch myself every morning!” she added to Us Weekly.

Hit maker Rihanna and Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp were silent about their relationship for months. Although they were initially spotted on a romantic getaway in January, Rihanna didn’t confirm the rumors until April, when she finally admitted to Ryan Seacrest, “He’s my boyfriend.” Later, she told Elle magazine that her relationship with Kemp “is just my peace. It keeps me sane, really, talking to him and talking to my family.” And despite current split rumors, Rihanna told Interview magazine that she does hope to start a family and she’s open to having children “whenever the time is right… I don't really plan on the age. It could be a year from now. It could be 10 years from now.”

They may play a brother and sister on NBC’s Parenthood, but Lauren Graham and Peter Krause have seriously strayed from that sibling relationship off-screen. In September, the former Gilmore Girls actress confirmed the love that Method training would have forsaken in Redbook magazine. “Nobody knew it for a while because we like to be at home, cooking and not going out,” Graham explained. “I’ve also been really protective of it, because it’s important that you can buy us as brother and sister on the show.” And though it’s notoriously difficult dating co-workers, the actress says, “One of the things that’s been so fun is that it’s so easy.”

After a few years of single motherhood (and seeing Taylor Swift’s rumored current boyfriend), Reese Witherspoon was spotted with her agent, Jim Toth, who she seemed to be seeing in non-professional settings. The pair shared dinners in Los Angeles, went jogging together and took her children to church together. After failed relationships with her ex-husband Ryan Phillippe and Jake Gyllenhaal, Witherspoon said she was looking for a man who wasn’t an actor. "What I’m finding out is that it’s very comfortable to be with somebody who understands my career, but doesn’t do what I do,” the Oscar winner told Glamour magazine of her relationship with Toth. “He’s a great guy. He’s wonderful.”

French actor Olivier Martinez is no stranger to dating famous women—he’s been linked to pop star Kylie Minogue and actresses Mira Sorvino and Juliette Binoche. And his latest is Halle Berry. Martinez met the star on the set of their latest movie Dark Tide in Africa. The two continued their exotic affair in Paris in September, where they were spotted kissing, and then in Beverly Hills in October, where they made their first public appearance as a couple, walking the red carpet hand-in-hand. Now, Berry and Martinez’s romance is allegedly getting pretty serious-- she’s introduced him to her mother and they’re reportedly planning to move in together in Hollywood.

While Rachel McAdams is kissing Kate Beckinsale’s ex, someone else has allegedly been moving in on her former boyfriend. It’s been slightly over a month since news broke that Gossip Girl costars Penn Badgley and Blake Lively broke up and according to tabloid reports, the latter didn’t take much of a mourning period before moving on. Lively has been seen with Blue Valentine star Ryan Gosling (McAdams’ former boyfriend) having ice cream in Disneyland and drinks at The Standard. But he’s staying tight-lipped on his reported romance with the 23-year-old starlet. “She’s an incredible actress; she’s a good friend,” Gosling told People magazine.

Big Love faced some new competition this year with real-life polygamist husband Kody Brown and his sleeper hit TLC reality show Sister Wives. Though 41-year-old Brown married his fourth wife Robyn Sullivan in May, the nuptials were kept under wraps until in October, when the reception aired on the series. Sullivan joined Brown’s three other wives and brought three children from a previous marriage to their clan of 13 kids—making a grand total of 21 family members. And there may be more on the horizon-- rumors abound that the group is courting a fifth wife, despite currently being under police investigation for felony bigamy. “I just hope they don't put me in jail for loving four women,” Brown told People magazine.
