Hong Kong Ferry Captain Convicted

39 counts of manslaughter.

The captain of a Hong Kong ferry that crashed in 2012, killing 39 of the 120 people aboard, was convicted of 39 counts of manslaughter on Saturday. Lai Sai-Ming, captain of the Sea Smooth, will be sentenced on Monday; in addition to manslaughter, he was also found guilty of endangering the safety of others at sea.
