Who needs another stimulus when we have elections? Figures for this year’s frantic midterm elections show that House and Senate candidates are on track to raise a jaw-dropping $2 billion for their races. And that’s not even including outside groups, who—despite all the fuss about special-interest money—are only on track to weigh in with about $400 million in spending. Broken down into House and Senate numbers, House candidates will probably spend about $1.5 billion on getting themselves into office, while Senate hopefuls will likely end up raising around $550 million.
