Republicans scored a victory Wednesday when the House of Representatives voted to repeal President Obama’s health-care program. Although the House’s repeal is unlikely to go much further—it would need to be approved by the Democratic-controlled Senate and Obama—House Republicans set the bar for how they hope to undo the health-care legislation. The House ultimately voted largely along party lines—245 to 189—for the repeal, after a debate on the House floor that was more muted than previous health-care debates, but both sides still managed to get barbs in. Democrats called the vote a “charade” and “the absolutely wrong way” to go about changing health care, while Republicans countered with comments calling it “job-killing” and comparing the repeal to the American Revolution.
