Footage has been made public of the Taliban releasing captured U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, who had been a prisoner of war for five years. In this video taken Saturday, Taliban guards—one clutching a white flag—escort Bergdahl to a neutral point between their trucks and an American helicopter, shake hands with U.S. forces, and then let their captive go. Bergdahl, wearing traditional Afghan garb of white linen tunic and pants with a gray shawl, boards the chopper and promptly flies away.

During the exchange, Taliban soldiers with rocket launchers and other heavy weaponry stand guard. And at one point in the video, which features Pashto narration, English words flash across the screen reading: "Don' (sic) come back to afghanistan"
