Apple’s new mobile operating system, iOS5, isn’t supposed to come out until the fall but hackers have already found a way that any old user can upgrade iPhones and iPads. Gizmodo lays it out: Basically, you just need to just download and install iOS5 on your computer and then follow Gizmodo’s instructions to upgrade the phone. The method apparently exploits a security flaw in the activation screen. Says the hacker who discovered it, “My will is not to do something harmful to anyone, I just wanted to get the attention of Apple, the company I'm in love with; and maybe one day have a chance to talk to/meet Steve Jobs himself.”
