William Balfour, the 31-year-old convicted in the killings of actress Jennifer Hudson’s mother, brother, and nephew, was sentenced to three consecutive life sentences today, with 120 years for his role in related crimes piled on top. The 2008 triple-murder occurred after Balfour, who attended grade school with Hudson, was launched into a jealous rage by the news that his estranged wife had been dating another man. The judge had harsh words for the killer. “You have the heart of an arctic night and your soul is as barren as dark space,” he told him.
