Huffington, Tina Brown Discuss New Media

Editors

Plus shed light on their supposed rivalry.

Arianna Huffington and The Daily Beast/Newsweek Editor Tina Brown sat down with Harper’s Bazaar for a joint interview. The two met as college students, when Brown was a playwright and Huffington a debate star. Huffington credits her professional success to Brown’s husband, Harold Evans, who serialized her first book in the Sunday Times, a move Huffington says, “changed the whole trajectory of my career.” And what of their supposed rivalry? “I think that there are certain stereotypes that are activated when you have two women like Tina and me running things,” says Huffington. "Catfights—you never had that when it was Jon Meacham and Rick Stengel, right?” Brown adds, “There is such delicious lip smacking at the notion of any girl-on-girl action, if you know what I mean. It's very retro.”
