A fire resulting from a fireworks display broke out in a Hindu temple in south India on Sunday killing over 100 people and injuring at least 200 others. Thousands were inside the temple when there was a big explosion at 3 a.m. causing the building storing the fireworks to collapse and kill those beneath it. The temple in Thiruvananthapuram holds a competitive fireworks display every year, but district authorities did not permit this year.
