The remnants of Hurricane Ophelia are expected to slam “violent and destructive” winds down on the U.K. and Ireland, authorities say. Courts, schools, public transport, and government buildings in Ireland have been closed over potential damage from the storm, which will likely bring gusts as high as 93 mph—conditions not seen in the country in 50 years. The Irish weather service has issued a “status red” warning over the wind and “heavy rain and storm surges along some coasts,” which could lead to flooding.
