When fashion photographer Gabrielle Revere first saw model Lindsey Wixson backstage at New York Fashion Week in September 2009, she knew the 15-year-old model had star quality. "She was just so stunning, and different than all the other girls," Revere told Life magazine. From the gap between her two front teeth to her perfect pout, the Kansas native stood out to Revere, who made her the focus of her current exhibition at Sotheby's in New York, I Remain, You Desire.

Revere was inspired by the 5-foot-10, then 15-year-old Wixson, who she recalled to Life as “shy but confident.” By the time Fashion Week came again in March 2010, the model’s career had taken off—she’s now the face of Miu Miu.

“She's got something, she's got that thing that defines people," Revere told Life of Wixson, whom she shadowed throughout Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2010.

"A lot of photography today is about exposing, exposing, exposing," Revere told Life. "Everybody's looking for that shot of the person falling, that shot of the person in their worst moment. And that wasn't what I was interested in getting."

Revere fallowed her subject from castings to fittings to runway shows. Here, Wixson waits to be fitted for Ruffian, the Victorian-esque brand from Brian Wolk and Claude Morais.

Though she is a typical high school student, Revere says Wixson has maintained an impressive level of professionalism. "I saw the girlishness in her when we'd be like, 'Oh my God, there's [a famous person]!'" Revere recalled to Life. "But for work she was solid — it was more about the shoes being really high and making sure they were tight on her feet."

Revere captured Wixson donning this dramatic top hat for Jill Stuart’s Fall/Winter 2010 show. The model also posed for Stuart in her Spring 2010 cosmetic campaign, shot by Satoshi Saikusa.

The photographer captured Wixson as she took a moment to check her reflection. Revere’s intimate collection of photos “explores what lies beneath the obvious, to illuminate the relationship between the subject and viewer,” as the show’s description touts.
