The Israel Defense Forces announced Saturday that the solider believed to have been captured by Hamas is dead and was killed in action. Lt. Hadar Goldin was previously considered to have been kidnapped after Hamas militants breached the humanitarian ceasefire on Friday and launched an attack on a group of Israeli soldiers in the Gaza Strip. Two of Goldin’s fellow soldiers were killed, but when he was discovered missing, he was believed to have been captured. The broken ceasefire has only led to more bloodshed on both sides. Ten people were killed when shells hit a U.N. school in Gaza on Sunday. Israel said it was investigating the attack and would not confirm its role. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said of the current outbreak of violence, “We will take as much time as necessary, and will exert as much force as needed.”
