India is blocking a 857 porn websites, according to a government official who made an announcement Monday. “We don’t want them to become a social nuisance,” a spokesman for the department of telecommunications said. The decision comes a month after the country’s high court declined to impose a ban on all Internet pornography. The hashtag #Pornban began to trend on Twitter as backlash to the shutdown.
