Indonesia Stampede Kills 18

At estimated 18 people were killed and more than 40 injured Sunday in a stadium stampede in eastern Indonesia during a riot after a boxing championship, police said on Monday. The victims were trampled to death as the crowd of 1,500 fled the stadium to escape the riot after the country’s Bupati Cup, police said. The stadium, Kota Lama, located in the town of Naibre, had only two working exits. Twelve of the dead were women, police said.
